Web 2.0 technologies are taking the Internet by storm.  They have caught the attention not only of Internet Marketers, but of their target markets too.

Increasingly, people are using Web 2.0 technologies to meet people, keep in touch with existing contacts or to create hobby sites.

These technologies can be exceptionally crucial in your traffic generation strategies because you can interact directly with your target market.  Do it well and Web 2.0 web sites will provide you with thousands of visitors together with a valuable enhancement up the search engine rankings.

There are plenty of of Web 2.0 technologies, with more cropping up each and every day in focused marketers.  These sites are of special interest to you as you can directly access people who have an interest in your product or service.

It goes without saying that you can't just head into a Web 2.0 site and start promoting your product.  Doing this will get yourself shot down in metaphorical flames.  Marketers who do this quickly find themselves hounded out of the market.

When you use a Web 2.0 site you have to use it like you would a list. You have to establish yourself in the niche as an expert, someone to listen to and who knows what they are talking about.  Sometimes this means being yourself, other times you may have a pseudnym.

Whatever the case, you need to spend time getting to know the niche so you can integrate yourself with them.  Be accommodating, provide helpful information and you will soon be thought of as an authority.

Once you are well-known as an authority, it becomes much easier to sell your products.  It allows you not only to sell your products, but to promote products as an affiliate.

Be cautious about trying to do too much.  Establishing yourself as an authority on a social network takes a lot of time and doing so will mean you don't succeed on any of the sites.  It will be easier and more manageable if you just focus your attention on a couple of sites.

Some of the other Web 2.0 properties allow you to create websites.  Some of these do not permit commercial sites, whereas others will let you do anything you want.

These sites will help improve your search engines rankings.

You design web sites on web 2.0 technologies using unique content created around your keywords.  You then create active links pointing to your own website.  Using easy methods you promote these sites (pinging, social bookmarking, etc) to give them some help up the search engine rankings.

This may not produce a large amount of direct traffic, it will boost your organic search engine rankings.  This helps boost your website visitors.  A further benefit is each of these Web 2.0 properties will get traffic from their own search engine rankings.

Web 2.0 technologies are an extraordinary method of improving traffic.  With proper use, these can get you lots of free visitors!
